GeoForum is hosting a forestry hackathon in Maria 01

*Loss of biodiversity in nature, and more specifically in the world’s
forests, is a major threat to life on Earth that is now widely recognized.*

*How to identify and validate such rare and ecologically valuable forests?*



In this three-day hackathon, you will set up a controlled comparison
example, and provide an introduction and data to both forest ecology,
GenAI, and remote sensing to serve as the criteria for a hackathon effort.



Successful solutions will contribute to a paradigm shift in biodiversity
conservation, offering a scalable and reliable method to identify,
validate, and preserve ecologically valuable forests. The winning solutions
may have the potential to reshape industry practices, reconcile
conservation efforts with economic interests, and create a sustainable
future for our planet.



To help you get familiar with the hackathon challenge, we will be holding a
pre-hackathon webinar with a focus on both biodiversity and Generative AI
in terms of available platforms and sources of RS data, such as national
LiDAR and COPERNICUS satellite-based archives.



The Hackathon is taking place on March 7-9.2024.
