Server upgrade was succesful and web page is back online. Maillist will be operative Friday. The system will mail each member instructions how to manage the subscription.

Computer serving the Remote sensing club pages will be upgraded on Wed 12 2011. Web services will be turned of in the evening of Tue 11 2011 around 10 pm (local time) and will be running again around 10 am on Wed 12. Email list will be upgraded to a new software and will be out of action for a couple of days.

Dr. Robert Moses, President and Chief Executive Officer, PCI Geomatics, Canada on kuollut.

Surun murtamana ilmoitan Dr. Robert Moseksen yllättävästä kuolemasta. Hän oli poikkeuksellisen hyvä johtaja, oppi-isä, työtoveri sekä ystävä, jättäen jälkeensä arvokkaan paikkatietotekniikan perinnön. Olemme kaikki surun murtamia täällä PCI Geomatics'ssa vaikka tiedän, että Dr. Bob haluaisi meidän jatkavan työtä, jonka hän aloitti ja uskoi meille.

ESA call for proposals: support to young researchers

ESA is again offering young scientists the opportunity to undertake innovative research projects aimed at advancing the understanding of the Earth system, with a call for proposals for the Changing Earth Science Network initiative.

This initiative, launched last year, supports European postdoctoral scientists for two years to undertake innovative research projects that address specific scientific challenges outlined in ESA’s science strategy for Earth observation (EO).

PhD student position available in radar remote sensing at VTT in Helsinki, Finland.

VTT is launching an international graduate school in the beginning of 2010 to attract young, motivated researchers. One position is available in the Earth Observation team in Helsinki, Finland for a PhD student interested in developing SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) based applications of remote sensing. Results of this research work can be used in many application fields but the main focus is in forest mapping.
At the moment, climate change is one of the driving factors of the studies.
